Roommates

Today came my new roommate in Victoria League, London. This brings me to the topic of roommate as I feel that I have the adequate experience to talk about it owing to the reason that I have moved 4 times in short 3 years.

Before proceeding, it was great to have a new roommate in Victoria League, London. Although I no longer able to enjoy the moments where I can just sing my lungs out when I feel like it. Anyway, I can get some company, share my joy and sorrow with whatever happened during the day, hone my socialising skills, act as a source of support and assistance for each other and mutual updates of whatever happened out there. Of course, all of these will be wishful thinking if mutual respect, trust and friendliness are absent.

Living with a stranger in a new environment has been a norm for me, in total, I had moved 4 times in 3 years time. Out of these experiences I had joy, learnt how to maintain trust with a stranger, leap of enlightenment, faced tenancy problems, loud musics issues, threaten to be beaten, things stolen, etc. From these years of hopping through different environments I learnt to extend calculated trust first. I belief that every person have many "faces", everyone are capable of anger, friendliness, selfiness, etc these "faces" lies within them but due to the environment, some "faces" will be stronger than the rest. You can control which "face" you want them to put on by choosing wisely which "face" you put on. The theory is fairly simple, they treat you exactly how you treat them.

Environment shapes a person in many ways. And in a small room, your roommate will be your environment. If your roommate is someone who is a top scorer, eventually you will become better in that area. If your roommate is a hard party rocker, you might not be one but you will definitely been to a club for a few times than you normally would. So the trick here is to be the first person to influence and stay firm on it, create the positive atmosphere.

Living with a roommate is not as bad as it seems. It might be something you will be grateful for the rest of your life if its a positive one or it might be the other way round. It all boils down to you. How you treat people and some amount of luck as well.

Tell me about your roommate stories. Are they friendly? Where are they from? Do you guys had any issues? Let me know!
